Township of Verona Community Survey/Municipal Survey

The Township of Verona Community Survey/Municipal Survey was conducted by Quantisoft, LLC, a Monroe Township survey and consulting company as a free service. The survey was conducted as an online survey, enabling residents across Verona to take the survey at their convenience using the Internet.

The Verona-Cedar Grove Times published an article announcing the survey followed by a second article making residents aware of the survey. A link to the survey web site (URL) was also included at the Verona Living web site editorial page.

The purpose of the survey was to provide Verona residents with the ability to share their perceptions and suggestions about Municipal Government, specific public issues, and the various services provided to all residents with the Mayor and Town Council. An additional purpose for the survey was to gather and share perceptions of Verona residents with all other residents of the town. The survey results were delivered to the Mayor, Town Council and the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Verona Chamber of Commerce.

Mayors and Town Council members of all towns and cities have to make important decisions, often with limited information and input from residents. Residents often do not have the time or inclination to attend Town Council meetings to express their opinions. This survey was designed to gather perceptions on many important issues and to aggregate the results to get the pulse of the town. The Mayor and Town Council will be able to learn from the survey results and establish priorities based on feedback from residents and taxpayers.

A total of 87 residents completed the survey. Our interpretation of the results is that residents are generally happy with municipal services, but that there are certain services that are not meeting the expectations of some residents. Residents also expressed their strong consensus on public issues. We believe that the Mayor, Town Council, and residents are in the best position to interpret specific results after they have a chance to examine the survey ratings and comments. As is often done with other surveys, it may be appropriate to conduct the survey again at a later date in order to assess progress on issues of importance to residents.
